OUR MISSION

To support the men and women of the Minneapolis Police Department by raising funds to provide financial support for initiatives and programs that enhance public safety and strengthen community outreach.

OUR BACKGROUND

The demands of modern policing continue to increase in every aspect from rapidly changing technology to community outreach and social services to drug intervention, just to name a few. As the demands on police officers increase, financial support has not. In 2018, Chief Medaria Arradondo recognized the need for additional funds to support these demands that are placed on the officers that protect our community. The Minneapolis Police Foundation was established in 2019 to raise funds to provide support to the men and women of the MPD, thereby, creating a safer and stronger city.

THE NEED

With less than 2% of the annual police budget allocated for discretionary spending, there is limited financial support to meet the ever increasing demands that are placed on our officers. The Foundation depends entirely on the generosity of corporations, individuals, foundations, and other philanthropic organizations to support and enhance the work and outreach done by the Minneapolis Police Department.

The Minneapolis Police Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation.
